Irish Ethnobotany was first published in 1919 by Dr Michael F. Moloney (1888-1934). Described by the Irish Independent as “…not only an interesting and comprehensive survey of the history of medicine in Ireland, but an extensive list of native medicinal herbs”. Having completed his medical studies in 1911, Moloney took on the post of coroner in Dungarvan, County Waterford which he held until his death in 1934. The Waterford News called Irish Ethnobotany “A valuable and learned book, written from the Gaelic standpoint.”
